GARDENING WORKSHOPS are hands-on seminars in diverse aspects of gardening taught by experienced gardeners. SUMMER SEMINARS are informal talks on sustainability, organic farming & gardening and cooking with the seasons -- they are presented monthly throughout the summer season. POT LUCK PICNICS are held from May through September. At these once-a-month events, the EECO community comes together to share an evening on the farm with a Pot Luck Picnic. THE BLUE MOON BALL is the annual benefit for EECO Farm. Its is held under a glittering tent in the midst of the growing fields where farmers and gardeners mix with teachers and shopkeepers, movie stars, and Wall Street lions to celebrate the bounty of the summer's harvest.
-- this event was moved from last week due to rain ... BALSAM FARMS is a young farming operation run by Ian and his partner Alex Balsam. They farm 60 acres of rented land in Amagansett and at EECO Farm. All of their produce, with the exception of sweet corn, is grown without the use of synthetic chemicals or pesticides. "Our operation is proud to be a steward of the best soil any grower has had the privilege to farm." Ian lived in Italy for two years, and studied at the International Academy of Wine in Rome. Now that he is farming in the Hamptons wine country, he has had ample opportunity to taste the best of our local wines. He will lead a tasting of these fine wines and share his observations with us. This Seminar/Wine Tasting will be followed by Full Moon Pot-Luck Picnic. Admission is $5 per person plus sustainable food and drink to share!
