EECO Farm delivers enough vegetables to feed 100 families a week at the East Hampton Food Pantry. We’ve been doing this for almost a year.
Carrots, kale, Swiss chard, sweet turnips, mizuna, tatsoi, lettuce, beans, radishes, tomatoes, peppers (hot and sweet), corn, basil, thyme, oregano, rosemary, sage . . . you name it, we deliver.
None of this would have been possible without the help of our volunteers. First among these is John Malafronte, who has “adopted” the Food Pantry Project as his special interest. He is at the farm watering, weeding, seeding, and harvesting food for the pantry. Also, he has rented a hoophouse from the farm for winter crops, and purchased seeds and supplies.
Generous donations of beautiful produce also come from Balsam Farms, EECO Farm Stand, Paul Hamilton, and Patty Gentry.
Thank you to all gardeners and members who have lent a helping hand. You know who you are.
EECO Farm could put to good use any donations targeted to the Pantry Project. There is so much more we could do with some additional funding. Thank you.
