EECO Farm offers a number of resources for the benefit of our community:
THE OUTDOOR CLASSROOM provides hands-on farming experiences to everyone in our community. Local student groups and civic organizations can schedule visits to help with everything that needs to be done on the working farm -- from starting seeds and planting seedlings, to weeding and cultivating, to harvesting and packing. All the fall harvest is complete, EECO Farmers welcome groups to come and help glean the last morsels out of the fields for donation to local food pantries and lunch programs.
THE COMMUNITY GARDENS offer individuals and families the opportunity to raise their crops in the midst of this working farm. Located on two acres of prime agricultural soils and just at the entry of the farm, the 120 garden patches are available for seasonal rental by farm members. Each garden patch is 20 feet square, accessible by wide grass paths and has irrigation from a hose bib located within 50 feet of the patch. Farm-made compost is always available fro the hauling, and gardeners are encouraged to add this excellent soil builder to their gardens often.
LAND FOR FARMERS provides inexpensive, organically maintained growing fields for our "Enterprise Farmers" to grow crops for local community consumption.
THE FARM TRAIL offers public access to the one-mile walking trail around the Farm. Along the trail, visitors get up close and personal with the community gardens, four-season hoop houses, the honey bee yard, the orchard, and acre of perennial vegetables and berries, a grassland conservation area and our 2-acre compost operation.
DONATIONS of surplus crops are made each year, throughout the growing season, to those in need in the community.
