EECO Farm is a non-profit enterprise that cares for 42 acres of East Hampton land. In turn, we lease gardens to individuals, families, and commercial farmers who agree to use organic methods of growing.
Of the 120 gardeners who tend 20' x 20' gardens, skills range from the novice to the very experienced. They support each other and learn from their neighbors, as well as the master gardeners on site. EECO Farm provides water, compost, and advice, along with regular seminars, workshops on relevant subjects and Full Moon Potluck Dinners for gardeners and their guests (July - September).
Looking for a gift for your favorite gardener? How about a garden at EECO Farm for the 2016 growing season? Send us an email with your request and we will get back to you!
The warm weather has finally arrived at EECO Farm! Well, almost every day. Soon, however, it should be full blown summer time and EECO Farm is already well into its second 40-cubic yard drop of fresh compost for our tenants’ free use.
About 85% of the individual EECO Farm gardens are already in full production and many of those gardeners are now benefitting from planting cold tolerant plants a few weeks back.
In fact, some of us are making multiple small harvests of all types of lettuce, radishes, asparagus, spinach, strawberries etc., as well as plenty of flowers. If you haven’t started your own garden yet there is still a lot of planting time left for tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, beets, beans, melons of all types and the like. All you need to do is get yourself out there and get started!
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for fully paying their annual leases and also inform all of you that two more gardens have just become available for rent to other tenants --- at least as of this writing! If you or any one you know wishes to have the EECO Farm experience then please contact us immediately. As everyone should know by now, EECO Farm gardens are rented on a first come, first served basis.
Lastly, our annual Memorial Day fundraiser went well and the weather even cooperated. Attendees enjoyed a very nice spread provided by Smokin’ Wolf caterers. Thanks to all for coming and thanks to all our sponsors for the silent auction items they supplied. A full list of those sponsors --- and pictures of the fundraiser --- has been posted here on the
Events Page of our web site and on our Facebook page. Like us on Facebook and get connected!
Stay tuned to our Facebook page or visit our Events Page for updates on the Full Moon Pot Luck dinners --- our next one is SATURDAY, JULY 16th starting at 6:00p.m.
